AISSEE Medical Status Shows "Absent" But I Attended - What's Going On?

AISSEE Medical Status Shows "Absent" But I Attended - What's Going On?

Uncle Verma called me panicked.

"Sharma ji, disaster! My son's e-counseling dashboard shows 'Medically Absent.' But he attended medical exam last week! I have the examination slip! What's happening?"

"Did you submit the medical form to the school after examination?"

"Submit? I thought attending the exam was enough. Nobody told us to submit anything!"

"Uncle, that's the problem. Attending medical ≠ Status updated automatically. You must submit documentation. Let me explain this entire medical status system."

The Four Medical Statuses You'll See

On AISSEE e-counseling dashboard, medical status shows:

Status 1: Medically Fit

Meaning: Passed medical exam. All parameters within standards. Eligible for school allotment.

Action needed: None. Proceed with e-counseling normally.

Status 2: Medically Unfit

Meaning: Failed medical exam. Parameters below standards (eyesight, height/weight, dental, physical issues).

Impact: NOT eligible for school allotment. Disqualified.

Status 3: Medically Absent

Meaning: Either didn't attend medical exam OR attended but didn't submit documentation to school.

Impact: NOT eligible for school allotment (unless corrected).

Status 4: Medical Pending

Meaning: Not yet called for medical exam. Exam scheduled after school allotment.

Action needed: Participate in e-counseling normally. Medical will happen later.

Understanding complete medical requirements helps avoid these issues.

Medically Fit - Green Light

If dashboard shows "Medically Fit":

Congratulations! You cleared medical hurdle.

What this means:

Height, weight, eyesight, dental, physical parameters all within acceptable standards.

No disqualifying conditions found.

Eligible for e-counseling and school allotment.

What to do:

Continue e-counseling process normally. Fill school choices. Wait for allotment.

Keep medical certificate safe: Will need during final admission to school.

Medically Unfit - Red Light

If dashboard shows "Medically Unfit":

Bad news. Medical exam failed. Disqualified from admission.that's why joining defence coaching is a good option

Common reasons for unfit status:

Eyesight below standards:

Without glasses: Worse than 6/60 With glasses: Can't correct to 6/6 Color blindness detected

Height/weight issues:

Below minimum height for age Underweight or overweight beyond acceptable range Height-weight ratio improper

Dental problems:

Severe cavities affecting multiple teeth Misalignment beyond acceptable limits Gum diseases

Physical issues:

Flat feet beyond acceptable degree Knock knees severe Varicose veins Deformities Any chronic conditions

What happens:

Cannot proceed with e-counseling. Not eligible for school allotment. Admission process ends.

Can you appeal?

Usually NO. Medical standards are strict. Very rare exceptions.

What to do:

Accept reality. Plan alternative path (regular school). Understanding what to do after setbacks shows options.

Medically Absent - Confusing Status

Two scenarios create "Absent" status:

Scenario 1: Actually didn't attend medical exam

Called for medical. Didn't go. Skipped it.

Result: Marked absent. Disqualified.

Solution: None. You missed it. Can't redo.

Scenario 2: Attended but didn't submit documentation (COMMON MISTAKE)

Went to medical center. Got examined. Received medical certificate. Came home.

BUT: Didn't submit medical form/certificate to school as instructed.

School backend: No documentation received. Marked "Absent" automatically.

This is Uncle Verma's problem. Very common. Understanding common documentation mistakes prevents this.

The Documentation Submission Gap

What parents misunderstand:

"I attended medical exam. Doctor examined. I'm done."

Reality:

Attending exam is STEP 1. Submitting documentation to school is STEP 2. Both mandatory.

What documentation means:

After medical exam, you receive: Medical fitness certificate signed by examining doctor.

You must submit this to:

The school you're applying to (or centralized portal as instructed).

Submission methods vary:

Some schools: Email scanned copy Some schools: WhatsApp to official number Some schools: Upload on portal Some schools: Physical submission during document verification

Check specific instructions from school/portal.

If you don't submit: Status stays "Absent." Even though you attended.

Medical Pending - Wait and Proceed

10-15% candidates see "Medical Pending" status.

What this means:

You haven't been called for medical exam yet. Exam will happen AFTER school allotment.

Why this happens:

Logistics. Can't conduct medicals for 1.5 lakh students before e-counseling. Some done before, most done after allotment.

What to do:

DON'T panic. This is normal for many students.

Participate in e-counseling fully. Fill school choices. Submit preferences.

If you get school allotted: Medical will be scheduled at that specific school before final admission.

If medical pending + get allotted + then fail medical: Seat cancelled. Next candidate called.

So still important to meet medical standards even if exam is pending.

The Timeline Confusion

Parents ask: "When does medical exam happen? Before or after e-counseling?"

Answer: BOTH. Depends on logistics.

Some students: Called for medical before e-counseling. Status updated before choice filling.

Other students: Medical scheduled after school allotment. Happens during final admission process.

Both are normal. System handles large numbers. Can't standardize perfectly.

Important: Regardless of timing, medical standards are same. Must meet criteria.

Real Scenario - The WhatsApp Submission

Video mentions: Some schools accept medical status via WhatsApp.

How this works:

After medical exam, school gives instruction: "WhatsApp medical certificate to this number."

Official school WhatsApp number provided.

You scan medical certificate. Send on WhatsApp.

School receives. Updates backend. Status changes from "Absent" to "Fit/Unfit."

If school allows WhatsApp: Use it. Don't overthink. Follow their process.

If school wants email: Email it. Don't WhatsApp.

Follow specific school instructions. Not what neighbor did. Not what you think is better. What SCHOOL specifically instructed.

Common Mistakes Parents Make

Mistake 1: Assuming attendance = Status updated

Attended medical. Assumed automatic. Didn't submit documents. Stayed "Absent."

Mistake 2: Submitting to wrong place

School A said email. You WhatsApped. Or emailed wrong address. Not received. Status not updated.

Mistake 3: Submitting incomplete documentation

School wanted: Medical certificate + Exam slip + ID proof. You sent only certificate. Incomplete. Not processed.

Mistake 4: Not following up

Submitted documents. Assumed done. Didn't check dashboard after 2-3 days. Status still "Absent." Should have followed up.

Mistake 5: Ignoring "Pending" status

Saw "Medical Pending." Panicked. Withdrew from e-counseling. Wrong! Should have continued.

Understanding step-by-step process prevents these errors.

How To Check Your Medical Status

Login to: AISSEE e-counseling portal (AISSAC)

Navigate to: Dashboard or Medical Status section

Will show: Fit / Unfit / Absent / Pending

Check frequency: Daily after medical exam till status updates.

If status doesn't update within 3-4 days of submission: Contact school immediately. Something wrong.

What To Do If Status Shows "Absent" But You Attended

Step 1: Verify submission

Did you actually submit medical documents as instructed? Double-check.

Step 2: Check submission method

Did you use correct method? Email if they wanted email? WhatsApp if they wanted WhatsApp?

Step 3: Verify receipt

If email: Check sent folder. Correct email address? Did it bounce?

If WhatsApp: Check if message delivered (double tick)?

Step 4: Contact school immediately

Call/email school admission office. Explain: "I attended medical on [date]. Submitted documents via [method]. Status still shows Absent. Please check."

Step 5: Resubmit if needed

If school says not received, resubmit immediately. Get confirmation receipt this time.

Step 6: Follow up

Check status update within 24-48 hours. If still not updated, escalate to higher authority.

Don't wait passively. E-counseling deadline is coming. Resolve urgently.

The Medical Re-examination Question

Parents ask: "If medical pending, can child fail? Can we get re-examined?"

Answer:

If medical pending → You'll get ONE exam after school allotment.

If you fail that exam → No re-examination usually. Seat cancelled.

Prevention better than cure:

Even if medical pending, ensure child meets standards. Check eyesight, weight, height now. Fix correctable issues before exam.

Don't assume "pending" means "won't be checked thoroughly." Standards are same.

Impact on E-Counseling

How medical status affects e-counseling:

Medically Fit: Can fill all school choices. Eligible for allotment.

Medically Unfit: Cannot proceed with e-counseling. Disqualified.

Medically Absent: Cannot proceed (unless status corrected urgently before e-counseling closes).

Medical Pending: CAN proceed with e-counseling. Allotment possible. Medical done after.

Critical: If Absent status due to documentation issue, you have maybe 2-3 days to fix before e-counseling ends. ACT FAST.

The School-Specific Instructions

Important to understand:

Different schools might have different processes for medical status update.

School A: Wants email to admissions@schoolA.com

School B: Wants WhatsApp to +91-XXXXXXXXXX

School C: Wants upload on their specific portal

Don't assume uniformity.

Check: Email from school after medical exam. SMS notification. Portal instructions.

Follow specific school's process. Not general process. Not friend's school's process.

Medical Certificate Components

What medical certificate must contain:

Doctor's full name and registration number. Hospital/clinic letterhead. Date of examination.

Student details: Name, DOB, AISSEE roll number.

Medical findings:

  • Height: [X cm]
  • Weight: [Y kg]
  • Eyesight: Right [6/X], Left [6/Y]
  • Dental status: [Fit/Issues noted]
  • Physical examination: [Findings]

Final declaration: "Medically FIT for admission to Sainik School" (or Unfit with reasons).

Doctor's signature and seal.

If any component missing: Certificate might be rejected. Status not updated.

What To Do Right Now

If you've completed medical exam:

✅ Check dashboard status immediately ✅ If "Fit" - great, proceed with e-counseling ✅ If "Unfit" - accept and plan alternative ✅ If "Absent" - urgently check if you submitted documents correctly ✅ If documentation missing - submit immediately ✅ Follow up within 24-48 hours to confirm status update

If medical is pending:

✅ Don't panic ✅ Continue e-counseling normally ✅ Ensure child meets medical standards (prepare) ✅ Medical will be scheduled after allotment

If confused about process:

✅ Call school admission office ✅ Email AISSEE helpline ✅ Get professional guidance ✅ Don't rely on WhatsApp group rumors

Bottom Line - Two Steps Not One

Medical exam has TWO mandatory steps: (1) Attend examination, (2) Submit documentation.

Dashboard statuses: Fit (eligible), Unfit (disqualified), Absent (not eligible unless corrected), Pending (eligible, exam later).

"Absent" status often means attended but didn't submit documents - fixable urgently.

Different schools have different submission methods - follow YOUR school's specific instructions.

WhatsApp/email/portal upload - use method school specified, not what you prefer.

Medical pending students (10-15%) should continue e-counseling - exam happens after allotment.

Check dashboard status within 2-3 days of document submission - if not updated, follow up immediately.

Medical certificate must be complete (doctor details, student details, findings, declaration, signature, seal).

If status stuck on "Absent" despite attendance - contact school urgently, resubmit if needed, escalate if delayed.

E-counseling deadline is coming - medical status issues must be resolved within 2-3 days maximum.

Prevention: Keep medical certificate safe, submit exactly as instructed, verify receipt, follow up proactively.
